Animation, Motion GFX, Video Editing | Paid Media

Monks is a global media agency, with an in house performance marketing agency. All of this work (2025) has been made in-house at Monks for a variety of clients — ranging from finance, software, and tech, to lifestyle and consumer brands.

My role as a motion designer is to provide animation, editing, sound design, and production services for a large, very fast-moving advertising program.

Our projects begin with an account team of strategists and producers who pitch ad concepts to our clients, which are brought to life by designers who create storyboards, and then passed off to an animator/editor (me) who creates the finished product. It's a very efficient digital production process that allows for a high volume output of ads.

The fun part of this process is that it allowed me to soley focus on animation and production for the very first time - what I love doing the most. However, it was really new to me to not be the person designing and art directing the storyboards myself - carrying the project from end to end, which is something I've enjoyed doing in the past.

Anyway, enjoy these selections! They are some of my favorites <3
I included a brief description of who the client is to add some context, though note* these bios are not in my own words. Enjoy!!

Behind the scenes of my work:

How did I make that ad? See my Motion GFX Process Page on how I made a Mr. Beast Animated Promo Ad for our client Wing, HERE

Planview

Planview is a global technology company providing an AI-powered platform for Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), Digital Product Development (DPD), and work management.

These ads feature animation techniques that were new for me in my work like code expressions, expression sliders, "rove across time" keyframes, and animation of 3D layers.

Feel free to play this ad with sound (custom sound design by me). The primary animation technique I used here is a match cut, where the two scenes transition at the fastest point of animation, creating an illusion of seamlessness between frames. I also used "rove across time" keyframes to animate a the paper plane along a curved path, with smooth easing.

When I started this project, the first thing I knew I wanted to accomplish was a smooth transition between the hands in the first and second frames. I based the rest of the movement on this transition. I used code expressions to animate the number %'s, and another code expression to add a subtle bob/sway to the hands, so they'd float gently in space.

I applied a 3D rotation technique to transition between design frames, creating the illusion that there is a front and back side to the chart. I rotated the text layers subtly in 3D as well. I used code expressions to make the main chart elements subtly float in the space.

Feel free to play this ad with sound (custom sound design by me). On this animation, I used code expressions to wiggle the UI boxes, and an expression slider control to calm the wiggle effect after the boxes are clicked.

Wing

Wing is an on-demand drone delivery service for small packages, including food, medicine, and household items. It uses lightweight, automated electric aircraft to deliver items in minutes, operating in the U.S., Australia, and Europe.

Our ads focus on value props of Wing's drone delivery, and feature different promotional offers to inspire first time users to give Wing a try. From an animation standpoint, I wanted the motion to feel fast and futuristic. I focused on smooth easing, code expressions, and 3D transitions.

Wing Speed Promo, A/B

The following two ads are iterations with similar messaging and visuals that emphasize delivery speed— the main value prop of drone delivery. Both ads show the drone flying in the sky, and dropping down the delivery, with one prompting viewers to download the app and the other offering a promotional code to get $5 off their first order with Wing.

Feel free to play with sound (custom sound design by me!).

Quillbot

QuillBot is an AI-powered writing assistant that helps users rewrite sentences, summarize documents, and improve writing fluency using a variety of tools.

I worked on editing, sound design, and graphic overlays!

Chime

Chime Financial, Inc. is a financial technology company that offers fee-free checking and savings accounts, early paycheck access (up to 2 days), and overdraft protection (SpotMe). It provides a mobile app for managing money, including features like "Pay Anyone" for instant transfers, automatic savings tools, and a secured credit card to build credit without interest or annual fees.

I worked on animation, sound design, and editing for these ads.

This is one of the very first ads I made at Monks, and it went through many, many versions. Because there are multiple promotional details in this ad, each headline required a unique legal disclaimer with a matching special character, like a ^ * ~ to indicate which disclaimer is paired with which headline. To add emphasis to these promo call outs, I used sound effects and a green highlight to draw attention to each unique headline. I also ended up retiming this add — it was initially way too long because in my first pass I wanted to accommodate for the time it takes to reach each headline, but I ended up speeding it up to make sure it had a more engaging pace.

I created custom sound design on these two AI-Generated 3D ASMR videos.

One thing about generative AI — it won't generate sound, and if it does, it's usually uncanny.

On this ad, I recorded myself pouring liquid into a plastic bag in my kitchen, added some reverb, and timed it to match the video.

Also one of the first ads I made at Monks, and one of my favorites — this venn diagram shows you that you can feel secure budgeting for your wants and your needs. This is an animation that looks really simple and is quick, but took a ton of exploration to land here. After receiving the storyboard for the venn diagram, I had to decide how it would animate. Would the circles come from the edge of the screen and meet one another, would they pop up in place? I landed on this animation after sending some comps back and forth with my manager, where the circle scales up as one circle and then splits into two. I also spent time animating each emoji to add character and visual interest to even the tiniest of details in this ad!

I recorded myself cutting celery on my cutting board while watching the ad, so that my audio of cutting celery would line up with the timing of the action. I then brought the sound into the file, added a little reverb and timed it to match the video.

Client was really surprised with how I did this and pleased with the result.

Postmark

Postmark is a specialized, high-reliability email delivery service (SMTP and API) designed for developers and product teams to send transactional emails and, in some cases, marketing messages.

My animation focused on a creative way to show all of the various integrations Postmark has. I added sound effects to bring the integrations visual to life!

& last but not least!!! ...
