Animation, Motion GFX, Video Editing | Paid Media

Monks is a global media agency, with an in house performance marketing agency. All of this work (2026) has been made in-house at Monks for a variety of clients — ranging from finance, software, and tech, to lifestyle and consumer brands.

My role as a motion designer is to provide animation, editing, sound design, and production services for a large, very fast-moving advertising program. Each project begins with an account team of strategists, producers pitch ad concepts, which are then brought to life by designers who create storyboards, and then passed off to an animator/editor (me) who creates the finished product. It's a very tight digital production line that allows for a high volume output of ads.

My role in all of these ads is animation, motion gfx, video editing, sound design, and production. The ads are strategized and designed by other creatives I partner with. The fun part of this process is that it allowed me to soley focus on animation and production - what I love doing the most. However, it was really new to me to not be the person designing and art directing the storyboards myself, which is something I enjoyed doing in the past.

Anyway, enjoy these selections! They are some of my favorites <3
I included a brief description of who the client is to add some context, though note* these bios are not in my own words. Enjoy!!

Headspace

Headspace is a digital mental health platform and app offering guided meditations, mindfulness exercises, sleep aids, and focus tools to reduce stress and improve well-being. It provides science-backed content, including "sleepcasts" and, through Headspace Care, on-demand coaching, therapy, and psychiatry services.

This ad features a bit-mapped tamagotchi version of Headspace's famous brand smiley face. It's meant to capture the feeling of being recharged after self care. :~) I used sound effects to make the nostalgia of the tamagotchi come to life. I used code expressions to add depth to the animation with a subtle bob/sway effect.

Quicken

Quicken provides personal finance, investment, and small business management software that tracks expenses, creates budgets, monitors portfolios, and assists with tax preparation. It consolidates bank accounts, credit cards, and loans into one, allowing for comprehensive financial health monitoring.

I worked on animation and UGC-editing for Quicken.

The following two ads are an A/B test exploring various social proof hooks. One of my favorite ads I've made at Monks is version (A) - I'm proud of how smooth the animation is and think the ad captures the product really nicely.

A - (my fav, watch this one!)

B

These are various animated explorations of the Quicken brand "Q". I wanted to explore this graphic device with different value props about Quicken. I tried out a 2D style and a 3D style. We didn't end up using this but it was really fun to make!!

UGC Editing - I've really found a love for editing over the years and want to be seen as an editor in addition to being a solid animator/designer! These are some selects from UGC ads I've created for Quicken.

My process on these was to use graphics, ovelays, sound effects, and B-roll to add visual interest to the creator's videos. I try to keep a fast pace with cuts every few seconds to keep the videos engaging.

*on this one I added custom collage/animation that the client really liked!!!

Kinetic Text Animations

The client had a fun idea to create a "karaoke" themed ad, and I brought it to life with animation. We used an AI-gen voiceover and focused on financial forecasting for personal finance — how seeing into the future can help you get ahead. I initially created 16x9 Youtube ads, but recreated these in tons of specs. I love the square versions (included below). There were A/B versions to this ad.

That's all for now, but check back for updates in the future :)
